Terms & Conditions

Since 1982, Scottish Genealogy Research has been working to ensure that its clients are always treated with respect and fairness. Below is a list of our terms and conditions - If you have any further questions, then don't hesitate to contact us.

Ordering Product

We, Scottish Genealogy Research, Unit 122 Ettrick Riverside Business Centre, Dunsdale Road, Selkirk TD7 5EB ("we") intend to supply you with the results of genealogical investigations.

The Product:

The main characteristics of the product are outlined on our website http://wwww.scottishgenealogyresearch.com. or your estimate/quotation. Your submitted confirmation order indicates that you have reviewed and satisfied yourself in respect of the characteristics of the Product.

We are offering a personalised service, so it is impossible to predict precisely what the outcome will be - every investigation is unique.

However, a typical search, for example, would result in a factual report, outlining all details (and references) from statutory certificates, census returns, parish registers etc. Under normal circumstances we would hope to trace a line back as far as possible, although this will depend on factors such as illegitimacy, social station, and where your ancestors resided.

Fees

Fees are charged at £16.00 per hour. Because each project is unique our estimate/quotation will state the number of hours to reflect the amount of research time involved.

The above fees include all entrance fees, package and post.

Should you require copies of records they will be charged at “cost”. On completion of research we will advise you of the number of records available and allow you to choose which records you require.

Payment Terms

UK Sterling Cheques can be used, payable to "Scottish Genealogy Research".

Secure Credit card payments can be used via Google Checkout or Paypal.

Payment can also be made by electronic transfer, UK Sterling bank draft or by Western Union.

Delivery

The results of our investigations normally take 4 to 6 weeks, depending on workload. In the event of a delay you will be notified accordingly.

Remedies & Liabilities

Nothing in this Agreement will affect your legal rights as a consumer. In the event that you are not satisfied with the report we will endeavour to rectify the situation accordingly. Occasionally typing errors occur in the transcription of certificates, in which case the report will be re-typed for you with the minimum of fuss. We offer a highly personalised service, so any dissatisfaction will be dealt with immediately. (It is to our benefit that the customer is satisfied as so much of our business is generated from repeat orders and "word of mouth" recommendations.

Customer Service

Telephone lines open 9am-5pm Monday - Friday. (01750 50 5224).
